Join us in fostering understanding and advocacy for individuals on the autism spectrum in our vibrant community. Upcoming Events Mission Statement. Autism Awareness of Southeast Missouri (AASM) is dedicated to creating a community where individuals with autism are understood, accepted, and supported. We work to raise awareness and promote acceptance through educational outreach, inclusive community events, and resource connections for families. Founded in 2016, AASM began with the goal of bringing people together to learn, share, and celebrate the unique abilities of individuals with autism. Like many organizations, we faced challenges and slowed activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, but our passion and purpose never faded. Now, we are back and ready to be more active than ever — engaging with the community and making a bigger impact for local families. We strive to assist the community by encouraging participation in local events, sharing ideas, and promoting other providers’ activities. By collaborating with partners and sharing opportunities, we aim to be a trusted resource for families — helping them connect to the support, information, and experiences they need. Our mission goes beyond awareness — we strive to provide opportunities that empower individuals with autism to thrive, while offering their families the guidance, encouragement, and support they deserve. By keeping 100% of our efforts and proceeds local, we ensure that every program, resource, and event directly benefits the people of Southeast Missouri. We believe that with understanding comes acceptance, and with acceptance comes opportunity. Together, we can build a community where everyone is valued for who they are and given the chance to reach their full potential.
